The eMachineShop intelligent software tells you if your design can be machined at the click of a button. You don't have to be an engineer and you don't have to wait hours or even days for a machinist to review your job.

What type of documentation is provided? Our software includes on-line help via the F1 key. You can print the help information by selecting the Print button. We also offer easy Video guides. What if I can't figure out how to use your software? If you are a novice computer user and spent only a few minutes in the software give it a little more time. We only accept orders placed from our software. There are detailed instructions in the Help screens (on the menu choose Help | Contents and select a topic). Also try the easy Video guides. If you get stuck on something particular, on the software menu choose Help | Troubleshooting. As a last resort get some help from a more experienced computer user. |

| Can I use the software offline? Yes. You will need to connect to the Internet only to place your orders and to get the latest pricing file. Is the software available only by Download? Yes. I don't want to learn another CAD program... If you are familiar with a popular CAD program it's understandable why you might not want to learn another. However the eMachineShop CAD program is much easier to learn than most. The menus are short and you draw the same way with straights, arcs, circles, etc. It's common for users to draw their first part in under 10 minutes! Spend a few minutes to discover a remarkably powerful new way to design and order custom parts. You'll be glad you did! Download here or check the Video guides. Can I import an existing drawing? Currently eMachineShop has some import capability for IGES and STL and can import 2D DXF files. Most programs can export to one of these formats. You may need to make some adjustments after the import. Can I use the CAD software for other purposes? Yes, our software offers an excellent free CAD drawing ability useful for a variety of purposes. |
What if I have a machine shop in my company? Give us a try anyway - our approach will save you time, give you instant expert feedback, offer machines you might not have, and lower your cost. Will you keep my design confidential? We respect your privacy. This and other legal issues are addressed in the agreement you will see during the installation process after you download. You can view the agreement without completing the installation if you wish or from the program via the Help | Contents menu. What is your privacy policy? Click here. | Can I get parts faster than the fastest time quoted by the software? The fastest time quoted by the software is the fastest we can deliver parts. However you can often improve delivery time by experimenting with different materials, different machines, etc. Your specific part
Can you assemble my part? Not currently. We recommend you use us for making your parts and find an assembler to do your assembly work. Can I discuss my design with someone? First try your best to design your part in the software. Use the Video guides if you need assistance. If you have any specific questions, please refer to the Contact page. Do you offer my finish or material? We offer a wide variety of finishes and materials. For the current list, please download the software and select Job | Settings | Finishing. Additionally you can specify a special finish using the "Comments to the Machinist" feature or special materials using Job | Material | Request Special Material. What if you don't support what I need? If the process you need is a secondary operation such as a special surface finish and not yet supported we recommend to specify your needs using the "Comments to the Machinist" feature or use eMachineShop for part of your job and complete it elsewhere. Can you help with engineering and design of my part? Occasionally we will give some design oriented feedback after receiving an order but we don't get involved in initial design and engineering. This allows us to focus on what we do best - making custom parts conveniently and inexpensively. So don't ask us what kind of bushing would make a spinning shaft air tight or what finish would be best for least aerodynamic drag on the moon rocket you are building. Can I send you my parts for further processing? Currently we do not offer machining of existing parts. |
How can I get samples of materials? We recommend to run a small test job or purchase small quantities of materials from a material vendor. Do you offer inspection or material conformance reports? Yes, upon request. |
